Deep Face Pus!

This patient had a large infection deep in the left face. There are three good drainage sequences in this video, watch for all of them!

This is the second surgery I performed on the patient. I have video of the first surgery and will get that edited and posted. After this surgery the patient did well and was able to leave the hospital. He continued to do well at home.

These infections can be difficult to treat because it can be hard to adequately drain them deep in the face. This infection is probably best called a temporalis space infection but it does involve the masticator space as the radiologist noted. The infection also involved the lateral pharyngeal space. As with any dental infection removing the source (the teeth) and fully draining the pus is key.
