5 Ways Your Instincts Are Telling You Something Is Wrong

Apart from the five basic senses, we humans and animals are born with a sixth sense – our instinct. This sense has no logical explanation and comes naturally to us, without having to think. Some believe that this ability is a gift from above, while others say it is developed over time with experience. Whatever it is, we should learn to listen to our instincts. Like we instinctively run when we see something dangerous, we should learn to stop a while and listen to what our instincts say in our daily life. These come in the form of obvious as well as subtle, blink-and-you-miss signs.

Here are 5 ways to tell when your instincts are providing you with a “danger ahead” sign!

1. Gut Feel Says Something Is Not Right

1. Gut Feel Says Something Is Not Right

Sometimes, when you are getting ready in the morning to meet someone for a business requirement, you get that queasy feeling in your tummy. You cannot logically put a finger on what it is, yet you cannot get rid of that feeling either. Still, you go ahead and have the meeting, but from then on, your day goes downhill because you do not agree with the person you were meeting on a lot of things. You immediately regret having this meeting.

Why does this happen? While instinct is something unexplainable, that gut feeling is all about the neurons sending signals to your brain.

So, when you feel that uneasy feeling in your stomach, wait a bit and reconsider your decision. Most often than not, your instincts are right.

2. This Is Not A Normal Thing You Do

It is considered ‘modern’ these days to step out of your comfort zone and do things you would usually not even dream of doing. For instance, you are a homebody, but your friends are outgoing and love to party. You get invited to one of their parties and your friends insist that you be there! It is just a matter of a few hours; besides, this is going to be a different experience, aside from your boring life. You decide to attend this one party despite that inner voice that tells you feebly to stay at home.

And then you realize that you are in this place where you do not belong and do not enjoy.

Though it is good to sometimes step out and experiment, it is always advisable to remember your values and go by it. If there is even an ounce of doubt, you need to stop and listen to what your brain is telling you.

3. Doubts Cloud Your Mind

3. Doubts Cloud Your Mind

There are times when you are determined to do something, yet there is some kind of hesitation within. You are not sure whether this is the right thing to do. Situations like these come in abundance and in various forms in our lives – emotional decisions like whether to tell a friend that you saw her boyfriend with someone else, or even work decisions on whether to escalate a situation or handle it on your own. These things, though they look simple and unremarkable, can make or break a relationship, thereby creating rifts between colleagues and friends.

At times like these, we should follow our instincts and do what feels right rather than what is right.

4. Subtle Signs Asking You To Back Out

Do you feel that the universe sometimes conspires against you? Everything goes wrong right from the word go? Say, for example, you have plans to book a flat that day and wake up early so you can plan things out. You go to take a shower and there is no water. You sit in your car and you face trouble starting your car. As the day progresses, you find yourself trying to overcome various little obstacles. These are obvious signs that something is not right.

When signs like these come your way, you need to become extremely alert and reassess your plans.

5. You Are Trying To Be Excited But Something Is Pulling You Back

The choices we make in our life are not always through the heart. And at a later age, we sit and regret most of the decisions we made, either because of peer pressure or because it seemed right at that time.

Right from the time we learn to walk, talk, and understand, to the time we get married to the time we die: we make decisions. And most of the times, we fail to take notice of the subtle signs that are there for us to see.

So, all in all, learn to listen to the inner voice in you. Your brain gives you the logic and your heart the emotional quotient. Take decisions balancing both your mind and your heart. This will definitely help you in the long run and give you a happier, more satisfying life.
