This blocked ear wax removal extraction procedure is performed by UK pioneer and world-leading endoscopic ear wax removal specialist Mr Neel Raithatha (Consultant Audiologist) aka ‘The Wax Whisperer’ at his clinic in Oadby, Leicester, UK.
Ear wax removal is necessary when ear wax build up becomes impacted. Symptoms causes by earwax blockage include: earache (otalgia), conductive hearing loss, blocked ear, vertigo, tinnitus, itchiness and irritation, occlusion etc.
The client, prior to attending, had tried to soften his ear wax using olive oil ear wax drops. However, although the outer layer of the ear wax was soft, the core was still very hard and solid.
The added difficulty in this case was the ear wax was larger than his ear canal entrance, which was quite narrow and twisty. I was struggling to obtain a suction grip to entice the ear wax to the ear canal entrance, and even when I was able to, it simply would not fit through the narrow ear canal entrance.
I then attempted to use both a Jobson Horne and Ear Hook to get in and around the large piece of ear wax. This proved unsuccessfully as the ear wax was kept being pushed in the ear every time I made contact with it. Eventually, however, I was able to use the Ear Hook to lift the superior ear canal wall, without causing any discomfort, to leverage the giant lump of ear wax out of the ear. This was after I had manoeuvred the ear wax and created an opening at the top of the ear canal using Crocodile Forceps.
To my surprise, there was still a relatively large lump of earwax lodged against his eardrum, which I removed using a combination of suction and Crocodile Forceps.
The client said he felt ‘fantastic’ after the procedure had been performed.
